Botanical Extraction Facility
Creating high quality botanicals and extracts through state-of-the-art methods.
The Process
The process of extraction is done through a globally accepted clean technology called SCFCo2 extraction, or Supercritical Fluid/Plasma Co2 Extraction. It has been used for over a hundred years in the medical and pharmacological industry. The process itself is sterilizing has no compounds that impact the flavour profile of the products.
Traits & Properties
The botanicals will be extracted and preserved as oils that can be used more effectively, which will increase yields and use less product then being used presently in a batch. This is done through a globally accepted processes that is sterile and clean. These oils also have a shelf-life of up to 8 years and take up significantly less space in your establishment.
Cost Saving
The costs that can be saved include storage costs and utility costs related to storage, shipping costs moving product, increasing alcohol and beer yields due to less plant material in batches. Now your filtering will always be part of your QAPs, but to reduce some of your stages/levels of filtration the oils will lower the amount of time spent in this process which will also reduce labour costs and increase productivity.
End Result
Concentrated oils by their very nature will give all around higher-quality due to eliminating the unknown variables related to using plant matter in a batch. There is also the advantage that you are less likely to be hit with a price spike or limited availability due the seasonality of the required crops for your specific brews.

William Percy Taylor started his business with a need for personal health products for his own ailments and has been running his own research quality supercritical fluid carbon dioxide extraction system for 5 years. He has learned how to create oils using this system and has been retailing those oils through his successful small business.
With the shift in the economy the need to grow into other larger markets with this technology has become increasingly apparent to William. He is now looking towards the brewing industry as a key industry/client base to create bases of extracted hops oils. He is also looking to create food grade additives for the food/baking industry.
As an extraction facility, Makwa Xtrax works with clients to create the different type of botanical oils that can be created. From hops to natural food additives, beauty products, even creating decaffeinated coffee and readding the caffeine to other products. With this service customers can request specific flavours and properties to create an extract that can be added or readded to their cooking or brewing processes which can be used to save them money in their operations and increase yield in their finished products.

Makwa Xtrax is a business that creates botanical oil using SCFCO2 Technology
to be used in the Food Service and Brewing Industries.
